IN 2009 , SHE WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY ESCAPE MANTICORE , AND DOES WHAT SHE CAN TO BLEND IN WITH SOCIETY TO THIS DAY. SHE OWES IT TO APOLLO , ANOTHER TRANSGENIC , FOR SAVING HER LIFE AND LETTING HER ESCAPE .
BIOGRAPHY :
X5-681 WAS BIRTHED FROM A WOMAN MANTICORE PAID HEAVILY , DUE TO HOW EXTREMELY CHALLENGING BOTH THE PREGNANCY AND THE BIRTH WOULD BE. SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHO THIS WOMAN IS , DUE TO THE FACT THAT SHE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY OF THE ORGANIZATION TO BE RAISED BY THEM UNTIL THEY WERE READY TO BE TURNED INTO SOLDIERS.SHE REMEMBERS THE FIRST TIME SHE GOT BLOOD ON HER HANDS , SHE WAS EIGHT YEARS OLD , AND WAS SENT WITH HER GROUP TO TRACK DOWN A PRISONER THAT MANTICORE HAD KEPT FOR A WHILE. THOUGH HER MISSION WAS NEVER TO KILL HIM , SHE WAS CONVINCED BY ONE OF THE OTHER TRANSGENICS TO TEAR HIM APART. THE WHOLE ORDEAL HAPPENED , AND BASED ON HER DNA , SHE JOINED IN WITH THE SLAUGHTER. IT WASN'T UNTIL LATER THAT SHE REALIZED JUST WHAT SHE DID , AND REALLY STRUGGLED WITH IT LATER. IT TOOK SOME HEAVY CONDITIONING FOR HER TO STOP HAVING SUCH INTENSE FEELINGS AFTERWARDS.
WHEN SHE GETS SENT ON HER FIRST SOLO MISSION , SHE WAS FIFTEEN. SHE WAS SENT TO TAKE OUT SOMEONE WHO HAD GOTTEN TOO CLOSE TO THE ORGANIZATION , AND FOLLOWED THROUGH WITH HER ORDERS FLAWLESSLY , AS WAS EXPECTED. WHEN SHE WAS A FEW YEARS OLDER , SHE STARTED TO GET SENT OUT ON MISSIONS THAT TOOK LONGER , AND ONES THAT INVOLVED HER TAKING ON DIFFERENT ALIAS’S. WHEN SHE WAS SENT TO LOCATE PARKER FIELDS , AN ACTIVIST THAT WAS TRYING TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT AND WHAT THEY WERE REALLY HIDING , THEY SENT HER OUT. DISGUISED AS A POLITICAL SCIENCE STUDENT AT THE UNIVERSITY THE WOMAN WAS AT , HER ORDERS WERE TO SEDUCE THE TARGET ( AFTER FAILED ATTEMPTS PRIOR ) AND TO GET CLOSE TO THE WOMAN. THE TWO DEVELOPED A SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP , AND SHE FINDS OUT LATER THAT SHE WAS UNDER CLOSE WATCH FROM MANTICORE DURING , TO ENSURE THAT SHE WAS FOLLOWING ORDERS. WHEN SHE REMEMBERS THIS , SHE GETS SICK TO HER STOMACH. LATER ON , AFTER GATHERING ALL OF THE INTEL , HER LAST ORDERS WERE TO KILL HER , AND TO DRAW IT OUT. THEY EXPECTED TORTURE , EXPECTED THE HUMAN TO BEG FOR HER LIFE , PRIOR TO BEING MURDERED. THIS ONE HAUNTS SELENE , BECAUSE IT WAS ANNOUNCED RIGHT BEFORE HER DEATH THAT PARKER LOVED HER.
WHEN THE TIME COMES FOR A CHANCE TO ESCAPE , SELENE TAKES THE CHANCE. SHE OWES IT TO APOLLO FOR GETTING HER OUT SAFELY. HE TOOK OUT A GUARD FOR HER , AND PUSHED HER OUT OF THE WAY WHILE HE WAS LEFT BEHIND. WHEN SHE'S FREE , SHE MOURNS FOR HIM. SHE DOESN'T WANT TO BELIEVE HE'D BE KILLED , SHE KNOWS IF ANYTHING , THEY'D KEEP HIM ALIVE TO FIND HER AND THE OTHERS LATER. ONCE SHE'S FREE IS WHEN SHE REALLY FINDS HERSELF STRUGGLING WITH NIGHTMARES , AND STARTS TO FEEL THE EFFECTS OF BEING ON HER OWN , BUT REALLY , BEING ALONE.

VERSE.
681 was interesting , a subject that felt too deeply. Psy-ops was inevitable , for they needed to make her their perfect spy. Though she felt things much harder than other transgenics , there were benefits to feeling things so intensely. Case in point : it serves as a reminder to always follow your mission.
Throughout this verse is more her time within Manticore before the escape in 2009. She is anywhere between 16-22 in this timeline , but she was sent on more missions after turning eighteen.
This verse includes the mission involving Parker Fields , a woman that 681 fell in love with. Depending on the timeline and due to this mission being the driving force that leads her to wanting to escape with the others , she may act more on edge , more defiant , or more cold and stoic.
POST MANTICORE.

VERSE.
When there were talks of a group trying to escape Manticore and to be free , she wanted in. Still mourning the loss of her lover , 681 wants nothing more than to escape from the very organization that watched her , made her suffer , and made others suffer. She almost doesn't make it , but when Apollo takes out a guard for her , she knows he won't be able to make it , too. He yells at her to go and she doesn't look back.
Typically things in this verse happen before Manticore burns down in 2020. She has to figure out the world without Apollo by her side , and it's harder than she imagines it would be.
Knowing she has to find a way to blend in , 681 retires her name given to her by the organization , and takes on the alias Selene , both her name given to her by Apollo while in their group , and as a way for her to honor the fact that he saved her. In this verse , she's more prone to nightmares and the affects that being in Manticore for so long had on her. She does what she can to blend in , and finds an abandoned house to start to fix up after the group splits apart.

VERSE.
After successfully escaping Manticore , Selene stays in her home and slowly starts to adapt to human life. She's still haunted by the events that happened , but she's trying desperately to fit in and become used to living around other people again. Isolation has not been kind to her.
She's not involved with anyone in this specific verse. Anything in her older verse with others, specifically ship related , is in it's own private verse.
Because at this point Manticore is burnt down and is no longer operating , transgenics are widely accepted and this is why Selene is able to live without the fear or threat that they're going to come back for her.

Though the fire burned down the building that Manticore was operating under , surely they weren't so stupid to have all of their members operating under the same building. So they return , and they find Selene , deciding that she'll be easy to break and mold into the perfect soldier. They know what to do differently this time.
She is broken down , memories stripped away thanks to heavy rounds of Psy-ops , to create the perfect spy. 681 no longer feels anything , no memories of her past , of her encounters. All that's left was a mission : find any transgenic that was alive and kill them.
There are a few dynamics in this verse that I enjoy , one of them being something plotted between @geneticsoldier and myself. Alec and Selene were chosen and then paired together to get sent out on missions.

Originally from Floukru , Selene was captured by mountain men and brought back to Mount Weather to be tested on. Once Skaikru made their attack , she was one of the few who managed to escape. Though not unscathed , she still has many physical and emotional wounds from the trauma.
She does not trust Skaikru. She sees their technology as a threat , and doesn't want anything to do with them. She knows they'll eventually cross paths , but she hopes it'll never happen.
When Clarke and Bellamy visit Luna to try and convince her to take the Flame as the last true commander , Selene is present as she's returned to Floukru , but she's not part of their conversations.
